How to Enable and Disable Avast Game Mode

Avast game mode is an option that optimizes the configuration of your computer to be used while playing games. It blocks notifications and pauses update to let you focus on the game. It also adjusts PC settings to ensure that gaming takes precedence over other applications that could drain your CPU or cause slow performance.

When gaming, you need lots of resources such as CPU, GPU RAM MEMORY, CPU, and more. Other recorders or apps could divert these resources from your gaming program, causing it to slow down or crash. Avast’s game mode lets users to focus on video games by temporarily turning off background tasks and alerting you about any potential interruptions.

It also minimizes the impact of updates and antivirus scans on your gaming performance by intelligently detecting when you are playing a game and suspending them to prevent interruptions. This can be an enormous benefit for gamers who don’t want to have to interrupt their game for regular maintenance, or risk becoming infected with a virus while they are trying to play.

Launch the antivirus program, and then click on the menu button in the upper-right corner of the Windows taskbar. Select “Settings” and then switch it on. Enable Game Mode on. If enabled, a specific icon will be displayed in your system tray to indicate that Game Mode is active.

You can also use a separate page within Avast to add specific programs to automatically switch to Game Mode when you play them. However, you may wish to turn off avast’s game mode at some point due to one of several reasons. You can do this easily using the Avast user interface and we’ll explain how in this article.
